I am the founder of Decker Registered Professional Nursing, and I also serve as an Associate Professor of Nursing at SUNY Broome Community College. My career has been dedicated to education, leadership, and compassionate care, and my practice reflects the same values — professional excellence, evidence-based guidance, and genuine support for individuals and families navigating life’s most significant health transitions.
My Story
I am Dr. Margaret Decker, a board-certified nurse executive with over 20 years of experience in clinical nursing leadership, care coordination, and healthcare systems transformation. As the founder of Decker Registered Professional Nursing PLLC, I bring a passion for guiding individuals, families, and organizations through compassionate healthcare transitions grounded in evidence-based practice.
My career spans executive roles in academia, long-term care, acute care, and community-based settings, where I have led interdisciplinary teams, developed quality improvement initiatives, and ensured compliance with regulatory standards. I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare Systems Leadership and specialize in person-centered aging-in-place strategies, transitional care, and nursing advocacy.
My academic journey has shaped the foundation of my nursing practice and leadership. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Russell Sage College, advanced my expertise with a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis University, and completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice at Chamberlain University. Each step of my education has strengthened my commitment to evidence-based practice, compassionate care, and preparing the next generation of nurses.
My consulting practice is built on a vision of empowering people to make informed decisions about their care, while supporting providers and systems in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate services.
Dedication
I dedicate my practice to my family. First and foremost, to my husband Rick and our children, who inspire me to grow and do better every day. I also honor my parents: my father, who owned and operated Contro Brothers Plumbing & Heating, and my mother, who owned and operated Evie’s Furniture Loft and Guardian Protection Systems. Their example of hard work and entrepreneurship instilled in me the courage to follow my own path. Their years of dedication as business owners mentored me into the leader and business owner I am today.
